It’s hard to train with same intensity every day. Even in teams, each athlete will have different level of exertion, even if they all belong to the same age group.
Each one of us goes through our own unique external “stresstors” or factors that influence performance. While they may not cause any physical exertion, they may be causing mental exertion.
Very often these factors could be the reason for lack of progress or even stagnant progress. Unless we are aware of them, we will blame everything on the Ghost cause.
So, what are the 7 questions you should ask yourself every day.
- Did I sleep well?
- How is my mood?
- How is my energy level?
- Am I feeling stressed?
- Is there stiffness in the body?
- What is my resting heart rate?
- Am I hydrated enough?
These questions are how you feel and, except for heart rate and hydration, there is no specific measure. These questions give you an opportunity to talk to yourself and assess how you are feeling. A trend of this will tell you a lot about you.
Let’s take an example. You haven’t been sleeping well, it will affect your cognitive function through the day. Muscles won’t repair and healing will be slow. Therefore, your reactions will be delayed, concentrations levels will be low. Less sleep and or low quality of sleep carries risk of injuries upwards of 1.5 times.
Spend just 30seconds everyday asking yourself these questions, preferably as soon you wake up. It will help you become more aware of your body and Stresstors. Once you monitor, you will notice a trend, you will then take corrective actions on time. In our endeavor to bring more awareness and promote sports focused coaching, EvolveSports app prompts the athlete/player to take Readiness Survey.
